Lot 1:
A Japanese Army WWII Shin-Gunto Type 94 Katana, with a leather battle-guard scabbard. Signed on the tang. This sword was crafted in August of 1935. The ray skin grip is wrapped in the traditional style with brown fabric. Beneath the wrapping are figural menuki on each side. The tsuba guard is the solid Imperial Japanese style, with relief cherry blossoms. A beautiful wavy hamon on the blade. Blade length of 23″ with a total length of 33.5″.
