A coin silver spoon that once belonged to the family of Samuel F.B. Morse, American painter and inventor of the telegraph. An amazing historical relic. The spoon was made by Evans & Manning, Circa 1865-1875 in New York. The spoon has the maker mark and “coin” mark underneath the handle, and “Morse” inscribed on the top. This spoon of the Morse family was received directly from a relative of the family, and includes a hand-written note detailing the original recipient of this item and the provenance. Genealogical research confirms the recipient was a relative of Samuel F.B. Morse. A truly rare item from an important historical figure. The spoon measures approximately 6.25″ in length.
