Lot 1:
An antique U.S. Mail leather bag, manufactured by Bona Allen circa 1943. Maker mark shown in photos. An incredible piece of history in excellent condition considering what its been through. Appears to be in complete condition and measures 9.5” H x 15.25” W x 4” D. Bona Allen was founded in 1873 by manufacturer Bonaparte “Bona” Allen, Sr. after he returned from fighting in the Civil War. He established the company with the help of his wife, continuing his family tradition of working in the leather industry–his father Washington Allen was a tanner by trade. The following lot (Swift spotting scope) fits perfectly in this bag.
