Lot 123:
“Newton” an antique 19th century clock manufactured by The Gilbert Clock Company out of Winsted, Connecticut circa 1871-1897. In good overall condition with the majority of maker tag remaining on the back. Comes with the key. Untested, but consigner stated it winds up and keeps time for a few hours at a time. This clock measures, 26.5” H x 14.5” W x 5” D. William L. Gilbert began his career in Bristol, Connecticut, a regional center of the clock business, and moved to Winchester in 1840, where he produced relatively low-cost wall and shelf clocks for the mass market. He built the case shop, located on the river bank, in 1870–71, when his business was one of the largest clock manufactories in the state.
