Myra Albert Wiggins (1869 – 1956) was active/lived in Oregon. Myra Wiggins is known for Portrait, figure, landscape, and still life paintings. Among the first artists of the northwest to receive recognition, Myra Wiggins was known as the “Dean of Northwest women painters”. She also exhibited her photographs as well as her paintings, and in 1902 was admitted into the Photo-Secession, the group of photographers led by Alfred Steiglitz. She was very interested in Dutch genre scenes because their light and dark features were a good match for the tone of gelatin and silver prints. Her still life paintings often included Indian artifacts such as “American Indian Basket” and “Indian Baskets”.
